Philippines: Theo&Philo
Theo&Philo is one of the earliest Filipino bean-to-bar company
Passionate about food, Philo launched his company in 2010, being one of the earliest Filipino producers of local chocolate. The name, Theo&Philo, is inspired by Theobroma Cacao, the scientific name of the cacao tree, and by the founder surname, which means also love in ancient Greek language.
The company sources dried and fermented beans from various farms in Davao, Mindanao, then transport them to its factory, located near Manila. Philo develops many local flavours, working a lot with mango, calamansi and dried bananas. The company produces about 20 tons of chocolate pr year.
