ZHENG MAHLER
Zheng Mahler are artist Royce Ng and anthropologist Daisy Bisenieks, currently based in Hong Kong.
Their multimedia, cross-disciplinary, research-based practice mainly investigates the history of Asian commercial relations, trade routes and systems of power from economic, geopolitical, social and cultural perspectives. Utilising digital media, performance and installation they develop speculative scenarios and immersive, sensory encounters that explore the limits and potentials of their respective disciplines.
For the exhibition, they will investigate the trade routes of cocoa and their socio-political impacts, focusing on Indonesia and on the colonial botanical garden of Jakarta, the Bogor Garden.
